If you’ve ever taken the time to scroll through multiple wedding blogs or wedding magazines, then you’ll find that it is heavily catered towards brides! I know that sometimes grooms choose not to be included in the wedding planning, because perhaps they feel out of place or they just don’t care about chargers and accent colours! But I think lately we’re seeing a change in this trend and grooms are actually helping make a lot of the decisions! I know for our wedding, Randy and I planned everything together! He even helped choose out some of the specific flowers and centerpieces! And I love looking back knowing that he was so involved in all of the details!

So, today I’m changing gears (just a little!) and talking about what grooms should do the week of their wedding! Brides, if you’re reading this, show this to your handsome soon-to-be hubby!  Have him read this so your mind is at ease a little bit more for the week of the wedding.

  • Get a haircut! If you do this at the beginning of the week it will have grown out just enough that it won’t look like a fresh cut, but still short enough that it’s the perfect length!
  • Go pick up your tux…AND TRY IT ON!! You don’t want to put your tux or suit on the morning of your wedding and not have it fit right! It’s just one extra hassle that you don’t need to deal with on the morning of your wedding!
  • If you’re writing your own vows, make sure these are done ahead of time! The same goes for your toast! Take the time to write something meaningful! You’ll be happy you did looking back!
  • If you both decided to exchange gifts, go purchase that gift this week.  Chances are, you haven’t up until this point, and the later in the week you wait, the fewer chances you’ll have to get away.
  • Confirm times with all your groomsmen.  When you’re meeting to pick up tuxes, when everyone is supposed to arrive for the rehearsal dinner, and then again the morning of the wedding.  Remind your groomsmen to arrive to the wedding sober.  While it’s a day of celebration, the last thing you want is an upset wife because your groomsmen are a little too rowdy.  Leave that for the reception!
  • Check with your parents to make sure that everything is good to go for the rehearsal dinner!
  • This is an important one gentleman – do your very best to keep your bride stress-free!  And remember to just enjoy the days leading up to your wedding! It’s one of the very best days of your life, and you want it to be stress-free and enjoyable!!
