My Dad has recently become very involved in this wonderful organization called “Corner of Love” based in Nicaragua. He took his first trip down there as the team doctor in March of this year.

Today I’d like to share with you a little about Keyler an 18 month old who first met the “Corner of Love” team in November 2013. (This information has been adapted from an information page my Dad wrote!) When they met Keyler he was blue and his initial oxygen saturation’s were only 65%, he was unable to walk and needed to be carried everywhere by his mother. It was at this time that the journey to get Keyler the medical care he needed began.

“Corner of Love” is a US registered charity that provides medical, dental and vision care to the poorest regions of northern Nicaragua. It was founded by Tanya and Nelson Amador. Nelson actually grew up in San Ramon, Nicaragua.  (My family has recently had the pleasure of getting to know Tanya and Nelson and they are two of the most caring and genuine people you will meet.)

After many months, many letters, emails and phone conversations Keyler has obtained all of the documents needed to travel to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. There Keyler will be a part of the “Herbie Fund” where they provide free surgical care to International patients from countries where life saving corrective surgery was unavailable.

Keyler traveled to Canada on July 28th 2014 and he will undergo corrective heart  surgery on August 7th 2014!
In order to help support Keyler, my Dad has been helping to raise funds through an event called “Buzzed or Bald!” The event is exactly that. If we raise any amount under $5000 my Dad will have his head buzzed (mohawk, please!) and any amount over $5000 he will shave his head completely bald!

Seriously, how cute is he!?
